I have discovered an awesome internal modification for my car, and it has the potential for big power (400hp) and affordability (OEM parts). It involves using the pistons and con rods from the 1.8 version of my 2.0 engine, dropping the compression ratio to a low 7.7.
The 1.8 has shorter rods than the 2.0, and the 1.8 pistons have more compression. In my 2.0, if I pair up the 1.8 pistons with 2.0 rods and a thinner head gasket, the compression goes up to 11.0:1. If I pair the 1.8 rods with the 1.8 pistons, the compression ratio becomes 7.7-7.8.
This may be far cheaper than any forged internal setup available out there. What do you guys think?
