hi guys, just doing research on what's required for rebuilding blocks for more boost.
here's what i got so far, let me know if i missed something:
1. new aftermarket pistons/ringlands (oversized, forged, etc.) 2. rebore cylinders 3. new aftermarket rods 4. block notching (if necessary) 5. blockguard OR block posting 6. ARP headstuds 7. replace bearings? (not sure about this) 8. replace oil pump? (is this required?) 9. replace water pump? (again, required ba?) 10. port & polish? (will this help FI setups?) 11. new headgasket
anything else i need? or anything i can remove?
hope you guys can enlighten me. thanks

You must have big plans if you wish to pursue all of this. Do you wish to make 600 WHP?

hell no! for 600hp i'll need a whole lot more than an engine rebuild ;D my goal is 300hp. the upgraded internals will hopefully handle the power. i'm asking about the SOP requirements when overhauling an engine, i.e. replacing bearings, pumps, headgasket, etc.
but thanks for the headsup on the blueprinting, i missed that. heard it costs quite a bit though. can you reco a good shop that does it, and for how much (ballpark figure)?

ARP's are needed for boosts higher than 1bar. head works for your 300whp goal you dont need as well as blue printing. id spend the money on a zex turbo cam instead. some things you forgot are; 1.timing belt 2.tensioner bearing 3.oil seals BTW what pistons are you planning to use? ive been drooling on Cp's lately. looks good for up to 500++whp

Carlo, forged pistons cost an arm and a leg! planning on rocking vitara oversize 76mm pistons. from what i hear they're good enough for 300whp. then tuner toys rods...
